The salty-sweet-savory-spicy crunch of these spiced up Ritz crackers will push all of your buttons. The name of this recipe tells it like it is. They’re crackers with spices and a touch of sweetness. The fresh sage adds a warmness to the crackers.

Ritz Crackers are used in this recipe because I tested different crackers, and I always returned to Ritz. They have a buttery, salty taste that holds up to the spices and butter.

Baking the crackers for twenty minutes dries the spices and makes the crackers extra crispy. Once cooled, they are the perfect snack. The Sweet and Spicy Ritz Crackers are also the perfect cracker for any dip. I must warn you; they are incredibly addictive. Enjoy!

Sweet and Spicy Crackers – Ritz crackers, brown sugar, red pepper flakes, cayenne pepper, fresh sage, and spices – SO addictive! What a great snack! Perfect with soups and chili, They are great with dips. They can be made in advance and stored in an airtight container. We always have a bag in the pantry!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup salted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 Tablespoon chopped fresh sage
  • 1 Tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon 1 pinch red pepper flakes
  • kosher salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 3 sleeves Ritz crackers

Instructions

  1. preheat oven to 300° F.

  2. Place wire racks on top of two baking sheets.

  3. In a large bowl, combine the butter, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, sage, oregano, paprika, cayenne, and a pinch each of red pepper flakes, salt, and a generous pinch of pepper.

  4. Add the Ritz crackers and toss to combine, making sure all crackers are coated in butter.

  5. Spread the Ritz out in an even layer on top of the racks.

  6. Bake for 15-25 minutes, turning them halfway through cooking. You want the Ritz to be golden brown.

  7. Allow the Ritz to sit on the baking sheet until cooled and dry, about 20 minutes.

  8. Store the Ritz in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.
