Old Fashioned Polish Mistakes

Polish mistakes are a mixture of ground beef and sausage. A block of Velveeta cheese is mixed in and melted throughout the mixture. Worcestershire sauce ads a blast of umami flavor, and oregano rounds out the taste altogether.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound ground sausage
  • 1 pound Velveeta cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano 
  • 1 package cocktail rye bread

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees

  2. Brown ground beef and ground sausage in a large pan.

  3. drain off grease

  4. Add cubed Velveeta cheese, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, and oregano

  5. Cook on low, stirring, making sure the cheese is fully melted.

  6. Lay out the cocktail bread in a single layer on a rimmed cookie sheet.

  7. Top each slice of bread with a tablespoon of the meat and cheese mix.

  8. Bake for 10 minutes or until golden brown and hot.
